The average amount spent per customer transaction at Boston-area health and beauty businesses grew to $50 for the metro area in December of last year, 4% higher than the average for the rest of the year.

1. Peter Welch’s Gym
First on the list is Peter Welch’s Gym. Located at 371 Dorchester Ave., South Boston Commerce Center in South Boston, the boxing and personal training spot is the highest-rated personal training spot in Boston, boasting five stars out of 49 reviews on Yelp.
Next up is Back Bay’s CLIENTEL3, situated at 364 Boylston St., Floor 4. (between Arlington and Berkeley streets). With five stars out of 32 reviews on Yelp, the personal training, martial arts and nutritionist spot has proven to be a local favorite.
South Boston’s EverybodyFights, located at 15 Channel Ctr St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the gym 4.5 stars out of 87 reviews.
4. Lifted Fitness
Over in South Boston, check out Lifted Fitness, which has earned five stars out of 27 reviews on Yelp. You can find the personal training spot at 803 Summer St. (between Elkins and Power House streets).
5. Joint Ventures Physical Therapy and Fitness
Finally, there’s a member of the Boston-based chain Joint Ventures Physical Therapy and Fitness, a Kenmore favorite with 4.5 stars out of 57 reviews. Stop by 648 Beacon St., Floor 2, Kenmore Square (between Commonwealth and Brookline avenues) to hit up the physical therapist and personal training spot.
