FREEPORT — FHN’s Get FiTeam challenge begins Jan. 26.
The challenge will allow teams of four to compete with other teams in a 12-week health and fitness program aimed at helping participants develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Online registration opens Jan. 6.
The challenge begins with a baseline screening to note height, weight, BMI, blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Screenings dates are Jan. 22, 23 and 25. Participants can choose a time online. Every participant must attend one of the scheduled screenings for their points to count.
During the challenge, teams will have access to healthy recipes, health-related events and trial memberships at health and fitness clubs. Individuals will earn points for their team with exercise, drinking enough water and eating five servings of fruits and vegetables a day.
Prizes will be awarded throughout the challenge. At the end of the competition, up to six teams will have a chance at grand prizes.
Each participant in the team that has the largest percent of weight loss will win a $250 gift certificate to a local health center, fitness partner or store of their choice. The team that earns the most points will win a $250 gift certificate to a local health center, fitness partner or store of their choice for each team member.
Cost: $25. To register: getfit.fhn.org.
