Cape Coral business fights back against new noise ordinance

[ad_1]

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The first Friday of the new year brings noise complaints for local businesses.

Since December 19th, police have responded to Rusty’s Raw Bar and Grill seven times for noise nuisance calls.

The seventh call came Friday night when the restaurant received its first official citation for $150.

On Thursday night, police also responded to the restaurant to ask band, Soulixer to turn their volume down after neighbors complained.

Soulixer bassist, Mason Reinek says the new noise ordinance affects their livelihood.

“It’s affecting the number of people that we have coming out to our shows, which is affecting the number of people that are purchasing CDs,” said Reinek.

Rusty’s says it hired someone from the Florida Restaurant Lodging Association to come out and measure noise levels with a decibel reader.

It plans on bringing those results to Cape Coral City Council on Monday, January 6th.
